This is Chris.
She joined us several months ago because she wanted to improve her strength. And that’s what we’re known for!
Chris has a busy, active job which was beginning to take its toll on her body. Joints ached, especially her knees and hips. Painkillers were needed here and there – just to get through the day.
Like many, she had researched that strength training helps to solve these problems. Stronger muscles, ligaments, cartilege and bones mean you move better, deal with life better and reduce daily aches and pains (that creep in after 40!)
Whilst training yesterday, she mentioned she no longer takes painkillers. Everything is flowing better. She wakes up less creaky and doesn’t feel knee pain any longer!!
It always makes us happy when someone mentions this. Taking medication, we all probably agree, should be a last resort. She when pain reduces or cholesterol or blood pressures improves (exercise helps this too) it gives us great pride in what we do.
The flip side of this is: we know there are people sitting at home, on a couch, dreading having to move, due to pain. They’re also probably on medication to deal with it. Sometimes this doesn’t even touch the sides.
AND …. the natural thinking (and often advice given) is to REST! (Translation: you have a problem somewhere, make the *entire* body weaker too by just stopping!!)
To be honest, every problem can’t be solved. But what we’ve seen many times are examples like Chris’s experience. Simple strengthening, done safely and consistenly. To create a better (medication-free) version of yourself.
Adopting a strength program *could* be life-changing. 🙂
