Sian is 52 and lives just outside Ely. As a keen outdoor swimmer, she was already active, but she knew something was missing.
Despite spending plenty of time in the water, her swimming performance had plateaued, and she was becoming increasingly aware of the effects that ageing and menopause were having on her body. She wanted to build strength, improve her fitness, and feel more confident moving into the next stage of life.
The Challenge
Before joining Hurley Fitness, Sian felt she had lost a significant amount of muscle over the years.
She was experiencing weakness around her hips, struggling with stability, and noticing changes in her body that were affecting both her confidence and physical performance.
Although she loved swimming, she realised that swimming alone wasn't enough. To continue enjoying the activities she loved and stay healthy as she got older, she needed to focus on strength training.
Why They Nearly Didn't Start
Like many people, Sian didn't act immediately.
In fact, she first discovered Hurley Fitness nearly two years before she decided to join.
She knew it could help, but putting off that first step meant delaying the results she was hoping for. Looking back now, she wishes she'd started much sooner.
The Turning Point
Once Sian joined Hurley Fitness, she quickly realised that strength training would have a much bigger impact than she expected.
The expert coaching, supportive atmosphere, and varied workouts helped her build strength safely and consistently.
Every session brought new challenges, but she never felt alone. The coaches guided her through each workout, while the friendly community made training something she genuinely looked forward to.
The Results
Since joining Hurley Fitness, Sian has achieved:
Increased strength and overall fitness
Improved swimming performance
Better stability and stronger hips
More confidence in the way she walks and moves
Increased muscle definition
Greater resilience against the effects of ageing and menopause
A supportive community that keeps her motivated
Here's what she had to say:
"I really wish I hadn't wasted that time. Go for it — you've got nothing to lose."
